DEREK SENFT, MANAGING PARTNER 

As Managing Partner of Founders, Derek serves as Director of each Founders’ portfolio company including, Presteve Foods, Totally Chocolate, Sierra Meat & Seafood, MacDonald Meat Co, Seattle Fish Co, and Walt's Meats (as Co-Chairman of the Board). Derek's special focus is on long term growth strategy, corporate development & acquisitions, and Finance function oversight. Derek also oversees Founders' portfolio of industrial real estate.  He is responsible for overall portfolio construction and monitoring, participates in investment decision-making, and invests in all transactions.

Founders is a family firm that combines 30 years’ private equity experience in over 80 companies with deep operating knowledge. The firm invests its partners’ own capital and focuses on applying operating know-how in medium-sized food businesses, with a view to building thriving organizations over the long term.

Alongside his role in Founders, Derek is a Managing Director of Tricor Pacific Capital where he oversees Tricor's direct investments including as Chairman of the Board of Overland Container Transportation Services. Derek is also an owner and Director of Frontline Real Estate Services and formerly a Director of Prostate Cancer Canada.

Derek has 20 + years of private equity & family office investing experience. Since 2012, Derek has led 30 + buyout investments and add-on acquisitions in mid-market operating businesses (control & minority), industrial real estate, and other alternative investments. He started his career at CIBC World Markets and then went on to lead investments for Pender West Capital Partners Inc. and Tricor Pacific Capital Inc. (Fund IV). He received his B.A. degree from Dartmouth College (Hanover, NH) and his M.B.A. degree from London Business School (London, UK).
